Merrill Mattes, son of E.M. Mattes, attended the university of Missouri and hailed from Kansas City. He signed up to work as a Longs Peak guide for Bob Collier during the summer of 1929. He became the Chief of Historic Preservation for the National Park Service. These papers are his notes from an article he wrote in 1986 for the "Colorado Heritage Magazine." Includes correspondence. |
