Letter to Mrs. Byerly from Anna Wolfrom Dove |
Scope & Content |
Letter written in blue ink on white paper folded in half with writting on three of the pages. Multiple creases. "New Orleans, La; 4-8-38; Dear Mrs. Byerly:-; I am sending you last year's tax receipt paid in full. In prorating the amount you owe for Oct. Nov. and Dec which would be $41.08-so you can send me a check to cover same(?). Mrs. Evans stopped over a few days last week enroute to join Mrs. MacDonald before leaving for the Park to work in the book shop. We had lunch with Sue and she said you wrote(?) her you were coming down for Mardi Gras, but evidently you never arrived. We have had lots of travelers this spring, mostly going to Mexico. They spend very little and all crying fear of what may happen of Roosevelt continues his spending program. Mr and Mrs Mardin left Mexico very suddenly on account of change of attitude toward Americans and disturbances among people. They were here 3 days, enroute north to visit relatives before arriving in Park May 1st. Doctor is just getting some strength in his legs and can get down stairs for a few minutes each day. I have been quite a prisoner since my arrival in October. I got away one day to go over to Biloxi, and then worried all day for fear he'd fall out of bed or try to get out of bed to get something and not get back. I am anxious to see my new shop Mr. Harshbarger is just finishing I know I'll enjoy getting things fixed up. Bought a lot of Persian and Russian things this week for it. A lovely camel's bell that you'll hear far over the hills. Then (?) a lot of artistic wood things that I think will fit into Estes Park setting. The best of every thig for you, Anna W. Dove" |
