Series of vignettes written by Alonzo Harris Allen, a pioneer who moved from Wisconsin to Colorado when he was three. These stories were compiled by the author's descendants together with a family tree, portraits of family members, maps of events, and illustrations from the period. Stories largely cover the numerous adventures and occupations of Alonzo Allen over his life. Depicts the story of Alonzo Allen and his life working cattle and riding the high plains of Eastern Colorado as a cowpuncher int he 1870s and 1880s. In 1863, at age 3, Alonzo Harris Allen had traveled by foot and ox cart from Wisconsin to Colorado with his mother and siblings. By the time he was 10, he was an accomplished horseman, chasing cattle, fighting Indians, and being a real cowpuncher.
