Description |
Grandfather clock, top is slopes and made from roughtp ine logs, bark still on them. Front of top has 5 short pine logs of varying lengths as decorative support. Sides of case are ough pine boards, corners of case have pine pieces with the bark still on as does a strip near top in center and at bottom of front. Top part of front has a face with hand painted numbers 1-12 (orange outlined in black). Brass hands. Glass front door covers face - has two steel hinges, brass clasp and a round wooden pull. Lower two thirds of case has a rough pine door with oval glass. Door has round wooden pull, brass clasp and 2 metal hinges. Inside the case is covered with tan burlap. The brass weights and pendulum hang here. On a nail near the door is a brass crank with wooden handle for winding the clock. Early date approximate. |
