Description |
German mounted scout dress helmet. Shiny black leather. Has flat top small brim on front and back. Back is contoured to fit head. Two round metal buttons with holes on sides at top to ventilate the head. Also on either side above ears are metal projection which were used to attach a chin strap to the hat. Inside is scalloped leather sweatband. On outside front is pewter emblem of eagle weaving crown and clutching a scepter and a ball. Imprinted on emblem is "MIT.GOTT.FUR. FR . und Vaterland" Marks: In black ink inside hat is "57/ 1916" & a stamp which is illegible. Another stamp reads "BA ? / 1916" "W" and "57" is written in pencil on the side of the interior. 57 is the size in cm. |
