Description |
Sprague's lodge soup cup-cream color w/glaze and rolled rim. Tan stripe approx. 1/2" (1.3) below rim. "Sprague's" in script breaks this line and beneath that a cowhand cooking over an open fire with "Lodge" below. Has base which extends out 1/4" (7cm). On base: "Ivory - with an Indian sending up smoke signal - Shenango China/New Castle, Pa./U.S.A." Abner Sprague homesteaded in Moraine (Willow) Park in 1880 -1904. The property later became Stead's and was run by J. D. Stead. Sprague then built Sprague's Lodge on Bear Lake Rd. It was razed in the Mission 66 era but it was located at Sprague lake and picnic area. |
