One of 3 edging nails used on climbing boots in the 1920-30s black and greenish metal hand forged, straight nail tapering to a point, head forms a clip with thin "butterfly shaped" ends which would have grasped the sole of a climbing boot, on opposite side of head cover from the "clip" metal hangs out a bit to form a notch which faces the body of the nail. per donor - this type of edging nail preceded the rubber cleated boots designed during WWII |
