Glued on reverse - Shep was 71 years old at this time. e had climbed Longs Peak 903 times and was had intended to do it some more. I think his former home was in St. Louis. He died there. LB

Inside lining is cotton with green and gold striped pattern. Inside pocket on right side back is black twill cotton. Small "V" at back bottom center, 2 action slits at sides. Double-layer cream colored lace and cotton sleeve. Outer sleeve has three layers of lace/ netting with floral design and slightly scalloped edge. The under sleeve has cotton lining with lace trim (about 2 cm wide) with scalloped edge. Heavily stained. Closes with a single pearlescent button.

Sepia toned portrait of Shep N. Husted in an ornate collar of the IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows.) Husted was a homesteader here and ran the Rustic Hotel. He also was a renowned guide and climbed Longs Peak over 900 times. Marks: "Shep N. Husted/ Initiated Jan 12, 1911/ Past Grand July 1, 1916" written in pen on a white paper stuck to lower left of print.
