Description |
Infant's petticoat with simple straight bodice to waistline. Straps of white tape. No sign of method of place of attachment at openings at back. Skirt of cotton muslin shirred at waistline with a 1.125" tuck below waistline. Bottom of skirt decorated by a row of tucks 2 3/4" long. Each of the 11 1/8" in width. Ruffle 5" wide shirred to bottom of band of tucking. Bottom of ruffle trimmed by eyelet embroidery scalloped at edge. Design of eyelet made up of garlands or flowers and leaves. Roland Reed's christening dress. The Reeds built and owned the Brinwood Hotel. Roland's grandfather Mr Ferguson homesteaded near Marys Lake. Roland was 74 at time of donation in 1969, thus making the dress c. 1895. |
